Cool.

My daughter is working on encouraging more girls to try skateboarding. From one of her training sessions, she reminded me of girls slightly different path.

“It was more like three stages.

(In general) boys feel pressure to perform, and through athletic performance gain respect of peers, in turn making for a welcoming environment .

Girls often excel when it starts with a welcoming environment. Therefor making them comfortable to perform and make mistakes, gaining respect from peers, and that leads to happier, higher preforming athletes.”

I think TS In general provides the acceptance and a comfortable environment. In particular the women’s clinic, which also suggests something different works for women. (Would love comments from women on this.)

In the youth program we have good female representation among coaches, 6 of 10 active coaches since January. But among the riders girls are 8 of 26 riders since January. Maybe we need a girls clinic too?
