smart trainers for Cycling Canada u17 u19 e-race series

Post by Lister Farrar »

This is a long shot, but there's a new national e-race series for u17 and u19, boys and girls. It's an offering of the Saskatchewan Cycling Association and Cycling Canada. It's free, but requires a power metre or smart trainer with power measurement. Not many of our kids have them.

This is a huge long shot, as I'm sure every smart trainer in the world is busy right now, but if by chance you're not using yours for a day or two, it would help a rider to aim for something approximating a race in these isolated times.

Course pre-rides are Fridays, races are Sunday am. So for the first occasion anyway, it would work to borrow for three days to try the pre-ride and make sure all the connections work. After that borrowing for race day would probably be fine.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Lister,

I bought a direct drive smart trainer fearing we’d not be able to ride outside at some point due to restrictions. Thankfully that did not happen! I’ve yet to really set it up, but your welcome to borrow it. I’ve put an 11/32 cassette on it.

Thanks Megan!

When’s a good time to come pick it up? I can return Sunday after the race.

Is it made for quick release or through-axle bikes?

More than happy to help the team
I have 2 (sort of) direct drive trainers that I can lend out. Both can do 12mm through axle and QR.

Belt is broken on one of them. Replacement should be in early next week. Needs a cassette.
The other is good to go as is.

I can also lend a left side crank power meter, 172.5mm.

Cheers,
Nic

Thanks Nick. I think we have 4 or 5 trying the first race tomorrow (entry is closed now), but I suspect more will want to race the next one. I’ll check the date and get back to you.
Cheers

Thanks to the donors of the smart trainers so far. New for this Sunday we have u17 girl Sabine and u15 Kimberly, and u15 boy Liam.

So I need one more. I can pick up tonight or tomorrow am if possible, so they can do the preride Friday after school (helpful especially for the first time to learn to make the connection), or the weekend. Will return Sunday or Monday.

Thanks Tripleshot!
