A local rider, who rode PBP last year, is giving a talk on his PBP experience in Sidney next Thursday.

The Sidney-based charity Cycling Without Age Society hosts local cyclist Gordon Litster’s “Paris-Brest-Paris Cycling Adventure”. Thursday, March 12, 2020 7:00-8:30PM Sidney All Care Centre, 2269 Mills Road, Sidney, BC. Advance Tickets $20. All are welcome; suitable for all ages, cyclists and non-cyclists alike.
In this passionate and illustrative talk, Gord Litster shares his incredible experiences of training for, riding and completing the gruelling Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) Race, known as the Olympics of Endurance Cycling. Gord is a self-described cyclist who has shifted from maintaining there was “No Fun Factor” in riding a 1219 km route, with over 11,000 metres of climbing in under 3.5 days, to not being able to wait for 2023 to come so he can do it again at 69 years old.
Gord will be joined by Mark Peyton, his training buddy and PBP cyclist as well as expert bike technician Gary McCoey. Of particular interest to cyclists of all levels will be Gary’s input on wheels, running tubeless tires and his discussion of the different choices considered regarding bikes, bike transportation, equipment and what to carry in case of on-the-road repairs. The evening will conclude with an opportunity to ask questions, chat with the presenters, view bikes, kits, gear and sample some of the unusual, yet successful, food choices Gord made.
