The cycling season is officially under way.
What an awesome race.
Freire sprinted away off the front away from Boonen and Petacchi after 300km in the saddle and an average speed for the race of over 44km/h. The last 15km were all out attacks by everyone.....nibali, bennati, cancellara, pellizotti. These guys are machines.
No cavendish in the lead group this year though. He got dropped over the 2nd last climb.
