Sunday, October 6: Prelude to a Crossfondo

Mostly nonsense. Also riding bicycles inappropriate for off road terrain, off road; GIFs

Sunday, October 6: Prelude to a Crossfondo

Post by JTyre »

Anyone interested is the Highlands. Hartland, Francis King & Thetis Lake areas in order to test our legs in advance of the Crossfondo (three weekends from now)?

Rolf took today off with the sniffels. Hopefully he's better by Sunday otherwise I'll be posting this image much more widely ...

I'd love to have those legs... But you may not want to continue this particular little game, JT.

Hopefully I'll be outta bed by Sunday.

Sounds good. But there better be tasty vittles at the end...

Of course there's room for a newbie, Alan! That said, you'll probably ride the rest of us into the ground.

Let's tentatively plan to meet at Fairfield Starbucks at 7:30 pm. From there we can set the ride. I say "tentative" because once Rolf wakes up from his beauty sleep he may have an idea or two to contribute.

Rolf, can you plan a route that includes 40km of uninterrupted single track? Thanks sport!

This monkey's still got a banana up his nose. If today's any indication of tomorrow's health and energy level, I'll be stuck at home, playing with my Gifs. I hope you all have fun eating *the other* Alan C.'s dirt plume.

And Johnny, spare me the look I know is on your face right now:

I can’t join but I can definitely say, from previous experience, a medical doctor is always welcome (and usually required!)

JT, in case Route Master Rolf is lying low tomorrow, are you thinking a route like this for Sunday?

Beard, something like that but clockwise, excluding Partridge Hills, and avoiding construction on West Saanich. We should also be mindful of the other Alan C. who eats road for breakfast but is new to some of these trails.

Rolf's still suffering with a hangnail, but with some pleading we might still get him out. Rolf?

See y’all at 7.30 at fair bucks. How long do you think this will be? I have a kid to pick up from a sleep over at 11.30

That sobbing face ain't doing much to move my cold, dead heart, JT. In ordinary circumstances, all you really have to do is put on your puppy dog eyes and jack your smile a bit:

But alas, I'm still wrapped in an afghan, whimpering to myself while the family quite properly ignores me.

Drop me a line when you pick a breakfast place; I may come share germs and feel even crappier for not riding.

Great, Rob, look forward to seeing you. We'll work it out so you're back in plenty of time.
