Hi folks,
Next year is looking to be a bit of a club milestone, with Tripleshot Youth Program alumnus Jay Lamoureux on track to represent Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the Team Pursuit. He will be the first of our Youth Program graduates to make it to the Olympics.
Jay joined Tripleshot in 2010, as one of the first members of the Tripleshot Youth Program. He comes back to ride with the club, acts as a volunteer coach to the current crop of Tripleshot kids, and races in local VCL events when he’s in town. Much of his time, though, is spent in Milton, Ontario putting in long hard hours training with Team Canada to build one of the best Team Pursuit squads in the world.
Team Canada is a strong contender for a Team Pursuit medal at Tokyo 2020. Jay’s team was 8th at Worlds two years ago; they were 4th at Worlds last year. They’ve been passing on road racing and other opportunities to devote themselves to training on the track to become the best Team Pursuit squad they can be.
While certain Olympic sports draw big dollar sponsorship, that does not extend to track cycling. And Cycling Canada does not cover training or travel expenses, even for top athletes like Jay. Jay is expected to foot these costs on his own and cobble together support from friends, family, and a few hundred of dollars of sponsorship here and there where he can find it.
Jay needs to raise about $20,000 in order to cover training, travel, and living expenses to carry himself through the Olympics next year. If you think you can dig down to help a Tripleshot star make the club proud, consider lending him a hand.

Donated. GO JAY!
I recall five or six years ago (?) the Farm Team came across this solo skinny kid with a huge grin, egg-beaters whirring.
"Jump on the back," we said. So he did. And then politely rode with us a few more times before it became apparent his natural talents stood in contrast to a bunch of middle-aged, beer-drinking, flower-smelling, pleasure-cyclists...
