GranFondo

Post by JohnT »

I am still working on the Sardinia stage race plan - negotiations are progressing slowly. In the meantime, here's another 2010 event that's a litle more accessible (Vancouver to Whistler on Sept 11):

OK everyone time to fondo, fish or cut bait. I just heard from a friend in Vancouver that this event is filling up quickly and will likely sell out in the next couple of weeks. I am going to register. Can we start a list if people are interested (or only if you have registered)??

in follow up, I will specify Triple Shot as a team, and have registered under the recreational category. The Giro category requires a cat 3 license.

This sounds like a great event, I've always wanted to do the road to Whistler. Will this interfere with the Nanaimo to Victoria ride you sponsored last year?

No. I thought that we could try to sort out our own plan if there are enough of us. It would be nice to have a support car that could carry some food to the half way point, for example. I know a hotel where we can stay in Vancouver.

We are going to look into staying up at Whistler on the Saturday night--Triple Shot night out?? So I may send the family ahead for a day at Whistler while we drag out proverbial butts up the highway. And Geff--I am kind and tolerant, so get your ass in gear and sign up! We talked about the potential clash with the N2V ride, but that is earlier (in August) this summer.

Why not ride both ways? It's all downhill on the way back.

I registered yesterday. As CAPTAIN I assumed that you would have been on top of that!

Josh just made me sign up.

Possible plans for Sunday are:

1) Ride back!
2) Ride downhill mountain bikes at Whistler!

Who is up for some downhilling?

I am far more interested in going downhill at Whistler than uphill to Whistler.

I'm in too.

OK GranFondo people, let's show the Sardinia guys that we're serious too. I'll set up the vo2 max testing next week. Meet you tomorrow morning for Tolmie repeats. Also, I was planning on getting up at 3 am and doing THREE 3-hr rides on Saturday. Who wants a wake-up call?

Ok, under the persuasive influence of Dave Spiers, I signed up this morning for the Whistler Grandfondo. It says we need a minimum of five riders and a maximum of nine for a team. The question I have, is, who's in charge? Is it Jeff or Captain Stay Puf't?
