2018 Tripleshot Christmas Party - Save the Date!
We have a date and a venue for the annual Tripleshot Christmas Party. Note that it's in a new location this year!
Please mark this date in your calendar:
Saturday, December 1, 2018
6:00 to 10:30 p.m.
Cook Street Activity Centre
380 Cook Street, Victoria
* 12 designated parking spots
* potluck
website: http://cookstreetvillageactivitycentre.com/
As always, we need lots of volunteers to do small to medium-sized tasks in order for this event to be successful. In early November, we'll post a link to a spreadsheet where you can sign up to volunteer and also to indicate what type of dish you will bring for the potluck.

Thanks for this Ann. Hoping to change my flights to be there. Can't miss that buffet! And the slide show is gonna be mind blowing with all the photos Rolf's been collecting.

We are now ready to accept volunteer sign-ups for the 2018 Christmas Party!
As always, we need lots of people to do a little bit in order for this party to be successful. Also, this year, we'd like everyone to bring their own reusable plates and cutlery, rather than use disposable stuff.
Here is a link to the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
Please note that there are three tabs at the bottom: Volunteering sign-up, Potluck sign-up, and Draw Prizes. Please visit all three tabs.
Also, if you still have great photos of TS people and events that you have not yet submitted to the TS Photo Gallery, now is the time! Please upload your photos to: https://tripleshotcyclingphotos.smugmug.com/ We will use these photos to create the slideshow for the party.
P.S. Lister, I hope you were able to change your flight!

Thanks, Ann. Your spreadsheet gets better-looking every year.
Reminder that the password to access our photos site remains the answer to "What is the best drink after a morning ride?"
Also: if the thought of "uploading" anything is confusing or even vaguely intimidating, feel free to send in your photos as attachments to an email to tripleshot.cycling.photos@gmail.com. Send as many as you like and they'll get magically sorted onto the site
(And they may be featured by whoever designs this year's awesome slideshow. <cough> Calgary? <cough>)

Thanks Ann! The new space looks great! Did you rent the kitchen also? Just wondering for planning purposes. It's fine if you didn't, just checking.

Eric, that is an excellent question! I wasn’t involved in the renting of it though.
Martin or Mary, can you answer Eric’s question about the kitchen?

I’ve never been. Is it family friendly? I’d like to bring my wife and kids.

The event is definitely family friendly.

Anne, I just signed up for Hoyne, but I think that is to pick up and drop off the beer? (vice purchase?) I can pick up the cups at the same time.

High sugar sweets, blue pop, and some kittens??As Neil says, it is family friendly. Having said that, there are no events organized for kids, but if enough people plan to bring kids, maybe someone can organize something for them?
Re: 2018 Tripleshot Christmas Party - Save the Date!
Thanks, David! Can you please coordinate with Alan Cassels and Mark Ford? They typically do some of the bar stuff and I’m not sure exactly what they are doing, so it would be good for you to talk to them.
Re: 2018 Tripleshot Christmas Party - Save the Date!
I attended last year's Christmas Party with my family for the first time and apart from an occasional bit of the blue guff that sometimes slips from skinny people drinking, the event's content is solidly G-rated.
However, the actual eating of dinner only kicked off after 7—so if your kids (or you! ) are prone to hypoglycemic hijinks, you may want to carry a little kibble in your pocket to keep those sweet little Duncan smiles shining bright.
Re: 2018 Tripleshot Christmas Party - Save the Date!
If people would like us to rent the kitchen we can. It would cost about $100 extra. If someone feels it's important, then pipe up here.
Ann could do with some help coordinating the draw-prize swag from various donors. You can help in a couple ways. 1) When you're in your favourite bike shop, you could ask if they've donated any swag to the Tripleshot Xmas party. If they haven't, see if they've got any stuff they'd like to contribute for draw prizes. 2) Ann could do with a draw prize organizer--someone to bring all the swag together, throw ribbons around things, put it out on display at the party, etc. 3) If you've got stuff kicking around that you've never used (a wrong-sized jersey, etc.) and might be appealing as a draw prize, let Ann or her coordinator know. Doesn't have to be bike stuff--I always go right past the floor pump to the 16-year old Lagavulin, personally (hint hint).

++Reminder++ to please upload any photos you'd like to see on the big screen at the big event to the handy link above ^^^ as this is the only place from which the slideshow photos will be collected (well, that and my own computer). Focus on putting your pics in the Events>2018 folder. All pics (save a few fluffy gap-fillers from the "Scenic" category) will be taken from the event folders. And some are looking a little skimpy (no, Alan, not people's attire - Spandex is as skimpy as we need to see your ass) - particularly from the latter part of the year.Ann wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 7:59 pm Also, if you still have great photos of TS people and events that you have not yet submitted to the TS Photo Gallery, now is the time! So, upload them pics and bask in their glory at the slideshow next weekend. You did remember to get the evening off work, dog-walking and assorted chores, right?
Re: 2018 Tripleshot Christmas Party -
Hi everyone,
Hope to see the entire club, and family members at the Christmas party!
Just a reminder that parking is going to be a problem. The truck parade will pass Cook Street on Dallas Road at six, and then after that is the Cook Street light-up. So it's going to be busy. If you are driving, get to the venue early, or expect to walk a few blocks. Or even better, ride your bike!
See you then!

Re: 2018 Tripleshot Christmas Party - Save the Date!
Wikipedia defines a Potluck as a "communal gathering where each guest or group contributes a different, often homemade dish of food to be shared."
Sounds yummy, right? Well, at present, only about 20 people have signed up to bring food. The Tripleshot Xmas party typically draws 80+ people. So, unless the rest of you plan on eating BEFORE the party (cos' if you show up empty-handed you will be shunned), please sign up to let us know what you are bringing to the pot-luck dinner!
