Thank you to Jim and Louise for hosting the planning meeting tonight and for doing research. And thank you to all of you that contributed valuable knowledge from previous years in Sardinia!

I took some notes of the key points we discussed:

https://www.girosardegna.com/

- hotel - the calaserena village (event headquarters) https://www.bluserena.it/en/sardinia-hotel-resort
- shuttle available to the stages that don't start at the hotel (2 stages) or consider renting transport vans for the group's bikes and then individual cars for getting to and from the airport and to and from the stages that don't start at the hotel

jim's cost estimate (per person) is:

540 Euros hotel includes meals (based on double occupancy; 30 Euros/day extra for single room)
200 Euros/150 Euros race
90 Euros in shuttles
$1500 CDN flight
$150 CDN UCI license

----
$2850 CDN

80 Euros/day per extra days at hotel
plus food
plus rental cars (30 Euros/day)

race dates april 21 - april 26

GranGiro 542 km, 6598 m
MedioGiro 397km, 5695 m

** Need UCI license to participate $150 CDN

Need a medical letter (from your doctor) saying that you are fit to do the event.

There's a reduce rate for the Giro for another 60 days. I was on the site just to check dates, so I didn't get the details (i.e., rates before and after 60 days), but if you are thinking about it, maybe try to decide before Christmas.

Hi Gang,

I'm putting together a little article (spoiler alert) for the next issue of the Rivet, and I was thinking: Who has already done the GiroSardegna?

If you have done one of more Giro, would you mind adding your name and the year(s) you have done it?

Kinda like a club archive sort of thing. I'll start. Please copy, paste, add, and post.

SARDINIANS:

Name, Year(s)

Eric Simonson, 2014, 2017
Heather Simonson, 2017

Thanks!

Or actually "Jen Erlendson".

(Just in case the 2019 TSC Sardinia Planning Committee has to get it right for a skip trace or something... :P )

Unfortunately, I will have to miss out on this edition of the Giro. The finances are not where they need to be for me to commit in good conscience. Definitively wont be missing the next organized trip though.

The first TS penguins to go to Sardinia was in 2010 with Dave Spiers and I going. Alan C gets an honorable mention for almost making it but being rejected by the explosion of an Icelandic volcano (seriously!)
