Mike Woods Puts on a Show for Tripleshotters at the Vuelta

In case you missed it, Ottawa's Mike Woods won a gruelling Vuelta summit stage in the heart of Basque country yesterday, beating super-climbers like Nairo Quintana, Rafal Majka, and Vincenzo Nibali. Here's a highlights video from the misty final kilometer.

There was a compelling, emotional back-story to Woods's struggle up those final, brutal ramps. With 500m to go, his directeur sportif said "Do this for your family." Try to watch this post-race interview without getting something stuck in your eye.

Serendipitously, there were a couple of Tripleshotters on hand to witness only the second Canadian to win at the Vuelta:

It was a great day to be a fan! Everyone around us knew we were Canadian and were cheering along with us. We had met Michael Woods the previous day while he was warming up for the TT! The crowds making their ways up the climbs to watch are all part of the fun!
