July 13th--Cycling Without Age comes to Coffee

Post by Alan »

Tomorrow (July 13th) the founder of the Victoria Chapter of Cycling without Age, Carson Sage, is bringing one of the trishaws to Shoal Point to meet Tripleshotters at coffee. He's the guy featured in this remarkably well-produced video: http://cyclingwithoutage.ca/victoria/
explaining what it's all about. I'm a volunteer with these guys, where we take elderly people for spins in a two-person trishaw. If you're interested in volunteering and you might want to take a electric assist trishaw (a tool for social change) for a spin, see you at coffee.
Come on and feel the power (as if you were Eric Simonson on a sprint) and take this baby for a spin on Friday.

Thanks to Carson for coming by coffee, and thanks to Alan for the memorable spin around the parking lot. It's a surprisingly comfortable, secure-feeling ride.

It's easy to take for granted feeling the wind in your face, the gentle g-forces of cornering, and the thrill of experiencing speed without the sensory displacement of a motor vehicle. I can see a trishaw ride really meaning a lot to those who are shut-in or have mobility issues.

And kudos to Alan for having the sense to recognize we had almost all of our Club kit show up for coffee (only missing the 2007(?) silver/grey):

I love it, a home-made Gif by the maestro himself!
Chapeau to Rolf's deft camera work.

If that's a gif, it's officially the first one I've liked. Looks like a hoot (and for a great cause = win-win).

Nice work, agents of social change.

(p.s. Alan just beat me to the posting - I'm referring to the goofs in the trishaw, not the goofy sheep by Sir Giffs-a-lot.)

Alan,

The visit by Carson was very informative and inspiring. Giant kudos to you for volunteering in this way!

As for the video, being cajoled into the trishaw by you and Rolf felt a bit like this,

I'd be lying if I said the relationship was perfect, but when it comes to cyclocross-related activities ...
