Hurricane Ridge July 1st

Post by LouiseF »

Just wondering if any Tripleshotters are planning to go over for the July 1st ride?

I'll plan to be there as well. Garth mentioned this mornings of a possible double ascent plan (fast run then a measured one). I'd love to complete one climb, nice rest at the top and smash the descent really fast. We could easily accommodate both by regrouping at the top before heading down as a collective group, ensuring a late mechanical or similar mishap would be supported by the whole group. Thoughts?

Since I am not an over achiever I will be riding up once :) Will be good to see some of you there - either on the up, down or the ferry!

There is major construction for the 5 miles before the toll booth. https://www.thenewstribune.com/latest-n ... 37114.html. However, there is an alternate route (South Mt Angeles Road) that bypasses most of the construction that I will probably take instead. Oh, and I am planning on only one ascent followed by the traditional lunch stop at Smuggler's Landing restaurant before catching the 12:45 ferry back to Vic.

I don’t know if you have ridden s. Mt. Angeles road but my recollection from riding it a few years ago is that is quite a nice ride except for the last 30 meters which consists of a short bushwhack to get back up to the regular road. I have not ridden Lake Dawn road but I suspect there is gravel. I have to go to WA next week so I won’t be riding this year.

Since its Sunday maybe the construction on the regular route won't be such an issue?

Stephane and others in the know: any idea how early the terminal opens for tickets and immigration?

Thanks,
Louise

Not sure what time the terminal opens, but you should be OK if you get there at 5:30. I already got my tickets. There won’t be active roadwork tomorrow.

Quite stunning Club photos from yesterday's ride up the Ridge are here. (Teaser below.) Gallery viewing password remains, as ever, the answer to: What is the best beverage after a morning ride?

A button at the top of the gallery lets you upload photos right from your phone. Or this link. Thanks to those members who have already contributed!
