Ireland Bike Tour - Looking for Recommendations

Post by khagen »

I'll be travelling to Ireland in early September and wanting to do a 5-6 day self-guided or group cycling tour. Looking for recommendations from anybody who has done so. Thanks!

Joanna and I did a bnb tour in the late 1980's, in May, for about 5 or 6 nights in the south east corner of the ocuntry. We hadn't planned much other than packing bikes, on our way to a family wedding. With the wedding celebration hangover barely subsiding, we headed out with no plan except for a general direction. But bnb's were common, and we discovered even adding the criteria of a traditional pub within walking distance didn't make them any harder to find. Hosts were very accommodating of bikes and washing out the days cycling clothes, etc. And drivers much less aggressive than here. The country is definitely on a scale made for cycling. I'm sure it's changed, but I think still ok if you stick to secondary and tertiary roads.
