Haro Woods issue

Post by Lister Farrar »

Many of our clubs cross riders know and love the trails in Haro woods. A group of residents concerned about dirt jumpers digging wants to ban all bicycles. I think there's a better way that will meet their needs, accommodate the jumper and cx kids, and help the park recover.

Thanks, Lister. It’s a beautiful piece of forest, but some of the trails are a bit of a mess. I hope this can be a case where all users are accommodated.

Thanks for your continued advocacy on this, Lister. I recall submitting over the winter some long-winded, cycling-focused contributions to the Saanich community consultation process.

One of my neighbors has started this petition to keep cycling alive in Haro Woods. They've asked that I share with the group.

Signed And donated to promote the petition.

Thanks for posting Louise F.

Btw, no response yet from the friends of Haro Woods and other groups seeking to ban cycling. If you know any, can you let them know my offer stands to show them NTS trails that are the model for this kind of issue. I can get the team van and drive folks to a couple sites to show construction methods and trails harmoniously in use by walkers, equestrians and cyclists. Willing at short notice to take people to see them.

And forwarded by Facebook and Twitter. Pass it on.

Just a thought when discussing: mentioning that the nts model addresses the concerns of the well meaning bike ban people puts us on the same side. A better political solution, as well as a better infrastructure solution.
