Insurance for 2010

Post by Plawless »

So here we go again. The last piece of the membership puzzle is to get insurance. That means going online and buying it direct from Cycling BC / Karelo. I see there being 3 basic options for each of us:

1. UCI Licence - buy this ($130) if you are a racer that races off the Island / does more than just the local VCL races. If you dont know if you should get this ask Roland.

2. Citizen Licence - buy this ($40) if you participate in at least 2 local races per year or think you might give it a try in 2010. I think if you are even remotely considering trying a race (Sidney TT, local Crit, Hil Climb etc) this is the way to go. It is the cheapest/most versatile option.

3. Club Insurance - buy this ($30) if you only ride with TS and only at 6am with 0% chance of anything else.

All of the licences go on sale on Dec. 1 and there is a 10% discount until Dec. 15th. Then a 5% discount from Dec. 16-31. More info may be found at:

http://www.cyclingbc.net/itoolkit.asp?p ... A_LICENCES" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false

PLEASE ensure that whatever you get you note TRIPLESHOT CYCLING as your club.

The payment is made at http://www.karelo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false (please let me know once you have got your insurance so I can take care of the paperwork at the Club end)

If anyone has a question please call me or shoot me an email - or ask me on a ride.

Thanks,

Peter

Just to let you know that CBC does not have their online purchase working yet for 2010 licences. Here's the email I received today from Krista Bergmann:

We are currently in the process of transitioning into a new database system that we will be using for registration this year and hope to have up and running by Tuesday December 8th. In the mean time the pdf form is the only option. We will most likely be extending the early bird discount deadline because of the delay in launching the new system. Please call the office if you have any further questions.

If you're an old school keener like Roland, you can send in the form & cheque by mail now.

Cheers, Jen

Latest update from Cycling BC for those who need to get insurance (WHICH IS EVERYONE!!!):

Our new website is only just up today with some hitches and they are also programming the new online and we haven’t heard a final date for online registrations.

For now if people want to register for personal riding license, please use the attached form. If they fax in by the 15th they can take the 10% early bird discount of their price, or after til the 31st of December 5% discount.

Regards,

Diana Hardie

So if you want in on the 10% discount email me at plawless@jsg.bc.ca and I will send you the forms. Once again if you even "might" race once next year I persoanlly think its a better deal to get the Citizen Licence.

And yes, Roland, I got the UCI licence this year - here's "hoping" for an upgrade to Cat 4!!! Any other takers?

If you attempted to purchase/renew a Citizen license the old fashioned way (fax, mail) it's likely you haven't received any kind of response.

According to Cycling BC, they are having some issues due to a switch to plastic cards. As a result, Citizen licenses have not been sent out. They are not sure when that will happen, but if you need proof of insurance, they can send you something via email.
