Inclement weather and mistress Lisa

According to most sources, the white stuff is coming our way soon, which of course leaves us looking for alternatives to road riding.

I for one have great memories of our impromptu rendition of Paradise by the Dashboard light whilst enduring a pummeling from Lisa's heinous spin class on the snowiest day last year. Are there plans in the works to do something similar this year? I haven't seen Lisa in some time but I bet we could arrange to contact her or get the Y to bring in someone with similar sadistic tendencies.

Oh, and thanks for the great work on the website, Roland. Awesome!

I'm here, I'm here! I'd be happy to host a spin class at the Y if it gets really crappy out and there is enough interest. I just have to tell the Y the date and time and I'm sure they will accomodate us. I'd certainly be into doing something longer over Xmas (like a 1.5 hour session), but if it is during the week it would have to be an hour class. Would be fun to see all your faces in the light for once so I know who you are!!

Hmmmm.... this brings up a thread I had not yet considered. I know many of you took to heart Kim Gard's mention of dew point (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humidity#D ... rost_point) and check this diligently each morning while I am sipping coffee or snoozing.

I would be very into a group spin class at 6am. The minor problem is deciding when to tempt or dodge road fate. The day before? 5 day forecast? Anyone?

Richard Corman, who lives in Harling Point, maintains a web site that shows weather including dew point. You can check it right before you ride; it's current.

Dew Point is an important measurement....as the air temperature approaches the Dew Point temperature, we are in for some moisture in the form of fog or dew. If Dew Point and air temperature is below zero degrees, we can expect frost. Refer to above table for Dew Point.

I don't think we have to worry much about frost when the dew point is so far from the temperature; dew point is -15 now. It's cold, but it's not that cold!

Of bigger concern is how you will regain your self esteem after a flogging by Mistress Lisa...
