Feeling Soggy?

Post by AJ Neale »

Kudos to everybody doing their best to come out for these rainy, grey, rainy, wet, rainy rides. If you think that we have been receiving more than our usual amount of rain, you are right:

The good news: THE DAYS WILL START GETTING LONGER IN 3 WEEKS!!!

The glass is either half full, or half empty. We get to decide. ;) Andrew

Hi Andrew...

Not to pee on your parade, but while the days will start to get longer in a few weeks the forecast of La Nina conditions for the coming winter months means that we'll see colder than average temperatures with greater than average precipitation...like last winter. Ugh.

I tend to think of it as “at time of observation, the glass is at 50% capacity by volume. Now where did I put those $*#%?! neoprene gloves???”

John (and Greg),

Trust a scientist and an engineer to gang up on me.

Well, you've peed on my parade John but now my glass is full. Thank you!

Actually, we both grew up in eastern climes, so this bit of light rain and cold (snort) weather is nothing to worry about right? It's the GREY cloud cover day after day after day that has me eating all these cookies. Give me more light and you can precipitate on me in any form all you like.

Andrew

P.S. Greg: when you complete your transition to Canadian-hood you will realize you don't need gloves when it is 8 degrees ( sorry ..... 46 degrees ). ;)

P.P.S. We should request a report from Blair P. in Whitehorse. Looks like the sun rises tomorrow at 9:35 am and sets at 2:00 pm! The other stat is the wind chill: minus 25. THAT'S when you need gloves!

A look at the rainfall numbers....

https://www.crd.bc.ca/docs/default-sour ... 3dd00eca_2

The interesting stats are that as of November 26th, we were at 149% of the average rainfall for November and `139% of the average for the period from September 1 - November 26. And I still managed to fit 8 relatively dry rides in during November, including Tuesday's.

From the Times: "The amount of rain recorded at different locations in the region can vary widely. At the Gonzales station [King George Terrace], 98.2 mm of precipitation was recorded in November." Maybe you were not as wet as you thought you were.
