u13, u15 cyclocross started

Post by Lister Farrar »

Hi all:

Just a short note to let you know the cyclocross season has started and we have a nice group of u13 riders coming out, with room for a few more. Kai, Nicky, Sabine and Sophie are enthusiastically attending practices and races.

There are several u15's also, and still room there as well. (we also have u17, u19 and u23 groups)

If you're interested in dropping by with your child to see what it's like, or try a practice, you're more than welcome, no obligation.

We practice Tuesday 4:40-6:30 and Fridays 4:30-6:30 in local parks (with permits). We'll be a Cecelia Ravine bike park also if the ground is wet, so we don’t tear up the grass in the parks.

Wednesdays we ride out to the CrossClub race ( a friendly training event each Wednesday in Sept an October) as a group.

Sundays we do the Cross on the rock island cyclocross series together, with coaches to support, or if there's no race, a group ride at 10-12 am on trails, what we like to call a cyclocross adventure, a larger loop ride with at least three different speed groups, A, B and C.

Park practices, depending on the age group, are a combination of games like follow the leader, skill drills like dismounts, hurdles, remounts, starts, weaving through, and then relays and short races on a mini cross cross course, with a focus on skills and fun. We have three coaches at every practice, so riders can move up and down groups as they prefer, but with age peers too. Parents welcome to watch or ride sweep on trail rides, or drop off your kids and do your own ride.

All coaches are certified, have first aid training, and have criminal record checks.

Hope to see you out!
