Bluetooth-enabled bike lock

Post by John D »

This Bluetooth-enabled bike lock looks potentially interesting: https://www.bisecu.com/

They don't actually explain how the locking mechanism works, but it's as secure as they claim it might be worth a look. Not sure I'd leave my bike outside overnight with it, but it might be good for commuting and short trips around town.

Um, what if the thief lifts the bike and carries it away?

Or what if your phone battery dies while going down Sinclair hill and the gizmo thinks you've simply moved away from your bicycle, causing it to instantly lock your front hub.

Or what if someone nudges your bike by accident while it's parked, and the high-pitched beeping causes them to impulsively let the air out of your tires?

And won't the CIA be able to see your average watts and stuff? :P

Didn't you watch the video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge90WaEzHeo

Simply look out the window, slowly and ominously shake your head (wagging your finger is an appropriate alternative) and the now-chastised and humbled thief quietly walks off to a new life of virtue and success. It's like "Les Mis" but with Bluetooth.
