TTT Thurs - Road Conditions for Feb 16

Post by Plawless »

Any of you student or professor type folks able to give an update on Ring Road before tomorrow's TTT ride?

I went through there on Tuesday and there was a 3' section of pavement removed across both lanes. A couple of weeks ago it was just one lane dug up but it was at least covered by a plate. This week it was the full width of the road and no plate....

It looked pretty ugly at 3pm. No plate and about a 2m cut across both lanes that is filled with mucky gravel. To compound the problem, when I went by (and they seemed to be finishing up for the day) the left lane was closed with beanpoles (pilons) that don't give a lot of merge warning. Ick.

What should we do, Papa Peter? Make the call in the morning? Relocate to the Henderson box?

Peter,
I will ride ring road around 21:40 tonight and will post, or edit this note, no later than 22:00 (unless somebody posts before me).

I am sure that it will be in better shape than it was last Wednesday night when the snow plow had manged to push the plates away from the hole!

thanks Claire and Mikael.

I suggest the following:

1. If Mikael posts by10pm that its looking good -we do Ring Road as usual. (To me "good" means a path that is paved and not covered by a plate...)

but if its NOT looking good:

2. we instead meet at Pareto at 6am and ride directly to Beacon Hill and do 3 sets of 6 laps there and after we can head for coffee at the Cook St. Moka House.

Cool?

Peter

ps. I will plan to meet the group mid first set as usual regardless of where.

Hi Peter,
I went by at 7pm and it has not improved since Claire went by. It would be worse than riding over the plates in my opinion.

I think the park is a better bet.

Cheers,
Mikael

Mikael are you trying to confuse us by mixing up your 24 hour and 12 hour clock? Should that not be 19:00?!!

See you at Pareto for a 6 AM departure.

Apparently the cut-up section on Ring Road is still not paved over and has been filled in with gravel . TTT at Beacon Hill tomorrow?

Went by after work to check out Ring Rd...doesn't look bad. Backfilled with compacted gravel level with the pavement.

For the record that section of road is flat-inducing, as evidenced by my 6:30 wake-up call to come and fetch my wife. Thanks Kenji for attempting to solve the problem.

Geoff - It was the least I could do to help after being promptly dropped from the surprisingly fast 3rd group on the road. Glad you could swing by, it was getting cooler by the minute out there.
