I mentioned to a couple regulars in the first group an idea for a bit of a change in the usual 3 X 5 laps. We (the slower or is that the slowest group!) are going to try something just a bit different tomorrow. Instead of 3 X 5 we are going to go 1st set at 7 laps, 2nd set at 5 laps and the 3rd set at 3 laps with a full lap and a foot down rest after each set.
The idea is to increase the pace and the heart rate over each of the sets. Nice high tempo for the first set; higher tempo for the second and full on near anaerobic effort for the last. Shorter and quicker pulls as we move from set to set.
It is important that we make sure we stay tight together and to the curb thruout and not interfere with the other groups. The other groups usually pass us before we are done our first lap and are usually standing around waiting for us after each set anyway. And the others are usually sitting down to tea and coffee by the time we get to the coffee shop!
It would also be really nice if the quicker groups would yell out when they are passing us, just give us a bit of warning. We will always look before peeling off the front but it is beneficial if you can holler out when passing us.
We will try this tomorrow and modify next time as needed.

Barton, even though I conveniently missed most of the first set of 7, it was a great workout. And there was little in the tank for the last three. Nice work!
