Cross is STILL here!

Post by Ann »

A few of us are planning to continue doing weekend cross rides for some time yet, usually on Saturdays. Everyone is welcome.

Amy and I are meeting at the Switch Bridge this Saturday at 9 and will probably head to the trails at Thetis Lake and then over to Elk/Beaver Lakes.

Reply here or send me a message or email if we should expect you.

Dear Santa,
Remember me, Alan? I asked for a cyclocross bike for Christmas, but maybe you forgot where I lived?
Thanks, by the way for the new stretchy underwear and those few good books. You're so generous.
If you have a moment can you please look in your sack and see if that cyclocross bike (the one with the titanium frame I asked for) is still there, and maybe you could make a return trip and drop it off at my door?
My buddies are cyclocrossing without me and I feel lonely.

All the best
Alan C.

I'm in!

Hey Alan - I know one of Santa's elves will soon be selling a really nice CX bike.

I'm a maybe. Will text you Ann by tmrw morning so you know whether to expect me. How long do you think you'll ride for? Any interest in trying the Langford Lake/Thetis route in lieu of Elk/Beaver? Does anyone know if the trails are icy at all?

I guess this is all dependent on whether any of the forecast precipitation shows up.

I was thinking a couple of hours with coffee after, if possible.

Langford Lake instead of Elk/Beaver sounds great!

Last Saturday when the roads were frosty, we saw a tiny bit of ice on the trails but it was very avoidable. Mostly it was just trail.

Hope you can make it!

Louise, we're always happy for suggestions for where to ride, especially if they come with telling us where to turn, and which trail to take. Otherwise, we're happy to point ourselves in a general direction, and explore!

I don't claim to know the directions to take. I had just seen it done as a loop around Langford Lake, through the Thetis area neighborhoods and back through those fun, twisty Thetis trails on other people's strava maps. It seems a popular cross route that I haven't yet checked out so am interested in it. I'm sure we could figure it out.

Hope to see you in the morning!

No worries. I've done it once, over a year ago. I have a vague idea, which may get clearer once I get closer to it. I think there's a trail off of Goldstream, close to the highway.

We'll figure it out, between us!

If I wake up early enough to switch my bike back to cross, I'll join you.

Just looked at the weather and forecast. It's cold out, but dew points are a couple degrees below temps, so should be dry. http://figbug.com/weather/

I'm planning on doing a cross ride on Saturday. I'll be at the Switch Bridge at 9:00, as long as someone else tells me in advance they plan to be there too. Open to suggestions about where to ride, but thinking about Thetis Lake/Stuart Mountain area, in general.
