Hi all;
Tripleshot will be running its 3rd annual "Backpack Ride for the Mustard Seed" on Friday, December 2nd. If you're new to the club, here's the drill.
Show up for the Friday ride wearing with a backpack containing some non-perishable food for the Mustard Seed food bank. We will have vehicles on hand (thanks Mark Ford and Mark Cranwell!) to collect all the food and deliver it to the Mustard Seed.
Last year we donated 800 lbs of food - let's shoot for 1000 lbs this year!

Bonus marks for carrying a ship-load of food! Canned food! I'm loading up at least 100lbs. Feels so good on Ash!
Oh...and decorate you bikes with lights.
Legal question for John: could we invite our extended cycling family (riders form other clubs) or would this put our club at risk? Would be cool to fill the roads with lights and bikes and food!
Thanks,
Eric

I won't be able to make the ride but would like to drop off food. Will the truck be ready/accessible before 6? I could swing by Pareto about 5:45 with my stuff. If that doesn't work. LMK if there's somewhere to drop it the day before.
Tx
p.s. I will be riding on my own in solidarity with you guys, and there will still be food in my backpack

Hi Claire;
Mark Ford will be at Pareto with his minivan before the ride for anyone who wants to drop stuff off. I'll also make sure to be there by 5:45 to help collect stuff. We will have both Mark's minivan and Mark Cranwell's pickup truck outside at Moka after the ride.
For others who may not be able to ride that day, please consider dropping food donations off either before or after the ride!
Thanks everyone,
John

I found a list of suggested food donations at http://mustardseed.ca/get-involved/donations/
Perhaps stronger riders can bring the heavier food items. I came up with this suggested formula:
10 lbs
X [240- (number of seconds for Ash Rd Hill)] /190
X 1 for C riders, 2 for B riders, 3 for A riders
X 18/(weight of summer bike in lbs)
X 76/ age
It looks like canned goods for the A riders and pasta for myself. They also take monetary donations.

That made me snort, Gerry. But I'm coming up with 20 lbs, and I don't know if my spaghetti arms and diminutive shoulders could handle that kind of mass.
Here's the table of what stuff they actually need (and I'll suggest it's not a good time to unload those artichoke hearts and bamboo shoots you always intended to use for that curry you saw in that magazine one time, but that you never got around to!):

Please put your donations in some sort of plastic bag inside your backpack. It makes it MUCH easier to load and unload the delivery vehicles if we don't have loose cans rolling around!

Thanks to all those who donated food at this morning's ride, and to Mark Ford and the Cranwells for the support vehicles. In all, we collected 575 lbs of food plus a couple of cash donations.
