Wednesday Aug 31 - Hurricane or another epic-ish hillfest

Post by Claire »

A few of us who check one or more of the following:
- teacher
- retiree
- slacker without a full-time job
- committed cyclist who can swing a day off here and there

... are planning a ride for Wednesday morning. The initial plan is/was to do Hurricane Ridge on the first ferry. However, if the weather is poor (i.e. wet) then we'll turn to something local. If it's not raining, we'll likely head to Goldstream Heights.

If any other like-minded slackers/committed cyclists have the morning free, stay tuned here and I'll update the plan by Tuesday afternoon, once we know what the weather's doing.

I am interested in a morning ride on Wednesday, but won't be able to join you if you do Hurricane Ridge.

Well, apparently my friends are wusses and/or made of sugar because interest is waning in light of this.

I'm going to show up at Cook Sbux for 6. If it's wet, I'll have my fender bike (boo). If anyone else is there, we'll go with the majority for the route. Could just be really lame and do the waterfront or something else low-key. And if I'm alone, I'll post about how epic it was since no one will know whether I actually rode or just went home and crawled back under the covers.

I'm afraid I'm bowing out Claire. The weather forecast is looking wettish. It's true, 'Training doesn't do itself' as Andy Schleck once said, but he's strong like borsch. I'll save it for later in the day or for Thursday morning. The weather forecast is looking better then. Have a good ride, it will be epic ... they all are.

This calls for the invocation of Rules #5 and #9. http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/

I won't have my fender bike (well, I won't have fenders on my fender bike), but I'll be there at 6. I'll sit off the back if it's raining.

"Showers overnight" it said... (it was dry in the morning)
"40% chance of rain" (i.e. more likely not to) it said...

Grumble grumble grumble... Today I was reminded that water pouring down my legs into my shoes is one of my least favourite sensations. On the bright side, Martin, Richard and I are off to a cracking start on our "toughen up for crap weather" program. And we are not wusses.

Barton and I looked for you on Munns road. Eventually we gave up. Glad you had a nice ride.
