Going West. Sunday June 19

Post by robhasegawa »

6 am kick off from cook street Starbucks. Vic West to the far reaches of Metchosin and back. Yes, of course, Munns. Hardish.

Quite interested. Particularly given Sat's weather forecast...

What's your plan, lumpy pants? Still planning to do this ride? FWIW, I'm reasonably tired from today's ride, too. From what I understand, you guys hammered today up all those hills...

Also, I'd have to be back in town by 10am, latest.

It's game on. Except if it's really wet.
We all need to be back by 10

OMG, just have to say this ride was super fun, challenging and exhausting! It was a pleasure to ride some roads I haven't done a lot recently, and with a slightly different configuration of friends. One small blow-out on Garth's front tire was the only mishap.

Garth and I were on a mission to complete a(n imperial) century (the type with varied scenery) so when I split for Lister's and the youth team ride, he had a quick coffee with the Sunday ride group then turned north again and rode Willis Pt/Ross-Durrance and Munns in the other direction. Very impressive.

In all the miles I've logged, this was the first century I've ever done and I have to say it was not quite as painful as I'd imagined. It probably helped that it was a combination of three different rides - 7 laps of BHP silliness, the Metchosin hilliness and then some mellow-ish UVic laps with the kids. Fun!

Thanks, Rob, for initiating and for letting me pick the route some of the time. I, for one, am enjoying a very low-effort day today!

What she did (and is perhaps too modest to emphasize):

And just a few of the KOMs/QOMs and many, many cups:

It was great to see how many Tripleshotters did a mind-numbing BHP century yesterday. But this one, with all its bumps and speed, really takes the cake!
