Maureen's Crash Sunday

Post by shawn »

A lot of you have already heard but for those who haven't, Maureen C (red and white Norco) took that corner on Lindholm a bit too hot on Sunday morning and found herself deep in the ditch. Thankfully, the other Farmers heard her cries and tracked her down. There was a doctor on the ride and a helpful neighbour who called 911 when others had trouble with cell service. She underwent surgery this afternoon to repair a fractured collarbone. The plate may or may not be permanent. She's also working to heal two fractured ribs, a fractured T12 vertabrae and a sprained ankle. She did manage to avoid getting concussed!!!!!!!! I've dropped in on her several times since Sunday to deliver some decent coffee and her spirits are good. She'd like to thank everyone who has sent good wishes and to let you know that she'll be back in the saddle once the bones have re-assembled. Oh, and the bike appeared to be fine but it will be getting a good check-up!

Thanks for the post, Shawn. Would you be able to PM me? I'd love to drop off some meals, or anything she needs.

Speedy recovery Maureen .... we are very happy to hear that you are determined to get back on the bike as soon as things have mended. You certainly did a good job spreading the damage while avoiding a concussion...... I thought the Farm rides were reasonable, calm and social!

We'll miss you while you are healing.

:( Heal up, Maureen; the roads and rides will be ready when you are. Put as much determination into healing as you do into riding and I'm sure you'll be back out before the days get much shorter...

Update: Maureen's collarbone surgery went ahead yesterday afternoon and she will be heading home on Thursday. Her daughter will be able to stay with her for a few days so that should help a lot. I saw her briefly today and she told me she'd been able to get up for a little stroll down the lovely halls of 7 South :) She wants to pass on her thanks for your good wishes.
