Thanks to all the TS volunteers who helped put on the race. This course is a fun addition to the VCL schedule.

A great evening of racing, with one error - The bell was rung in the B race with two laps to go (instead of one). An unfortunate accident given the size of the peloton (about 44 racers). We recognize that adjusting a finishing strategy would have been difficult given the approx. 50 sec lap times.

Sorry, and also thanks: While some pointed out that it affected the race, no one complained or got upset. That's appreciated.

I will post a few photo finishes tomorrow. I think the primes added some excitement.

Cheers,

John

Cody was one of three that lapped the A-race field. Trevor was another (well done Trevor). A two man break (at the bell) was racing for 4th. But Cody managed to bridge and beat them both to the line. I was standing right there, but didn't know if he had made it until I saw the video that this image came from.

Supercool and engaging with all that data! Kinda like NASCAR, with a higher BPM.

Another great video Roland. And look at the weather! At noon cancelation was considered, but things turned around nicely. If you haven't time to watch the whole race, jump to the last few laps - Ritchie goes for it on the last 1.5 laps and then with half a lap to go, David Attwell sprints around the whole field (Roland's video captures it nicely). Ritchie, who must have been toast, digs deep and hangs on for 2nd. Well done Roland (top 10 finish). It was also great to see John Errington and Duane Martindale out managing and photographing the events. These guys, along with Bruce Falk, have been the faces of the VCL since I started racing 10 years ago. Thanks also to Alan Cassels and Bill Ethier, and to other volunteers (e.g., Craig, Jim, Louise) for help at the previous events. Sorry, I know I missed a few. Norm, Mike Lawless and Marcus (among others) have also been great help at past Speedway events. Saskia won the C race last night and the $20 prime, for the second time in a row - she's making $$ racing! The A-race was great. Again, a four-rider break lapped the field (happen 3 weeks ago). We were ready to manage a 'pack sprint' and a leader sprint, but two of those four almost lapped the field a second time (they actually slowed on the last lap to avoid running into the main group). Managing two, two-rider sprints, and a pack sprint would have been too much, so we just rang the bell and let the cards fall where they did.

Also. Thanks to Paul Christopher for organizing draw prizes... and that reminds me: Chris Paul (IRC) has been to every event - He manages the scoring, which is the hardest part of running the Speedway events.

Fun!
