Thank-you to Mikael & Mandy

Post by myboys »

I saw my spare on my dresser at 5:30 a.m., and thought, "I think I have a spare in my bike bag. Yeeeessss, I'm pretty sure I've got a spare." Of course, my completely shredded back tire flatted out (efficiently covered up by the fender). At the side of the UVic ring road, realized I had no spare, no pump, and no valve for the CO2 cartridge in my bike bag. Dumb, and dumber.

Instead of completing their last set, Mandy and Mikael stopped to help. Realizing my befuddled state was not likely to improve anytime soon, Mikael kindly not only fixed the flat but provided the spare.

My first stop on my way home is to get all necessary supplies. Brent from Velofix is already booked for a thorough tune-up (and tire replacement) Saturday.

Thanks so much Mandy & Mikael!

On Tuesday's C-ride I broke a spoke and threw my rear wheel totally out true while doing laps of the Ring Road. It was basically un-rideable. Mikael shepherded me back to his house (near UVic) and gave me and my bike a drive home in his van.

Note to the TSC Exec - we need a Good Samaritan award at next year's Xmas Party.

Mikael also helped Jim fix his broken chain on Interurban road during the Paul Underhill Ride.

Mikael also helps every group he rides with by wearing one of those funky little rear-view mirrors on his helmet.

If there ever was a "Car back!" award...

I am blushing from these accolades. I have learned that Tripleshot group rides stop and members offer assistance whenever there is a need. I have experienced this myself many times. Just a few weeks ago my chain broke after Ash hill and Jim P. fixed it for me in the dark for example. A better example perhaps occurred yesterday when the C group of 16 or so stopped for a rider who was out on their own but needed a pump.

Cheers
Mikael
