TS youth riders and coaches had some fun, got muddy and did some pay back for the great trails in Hartland Mtb park, built and maintained by SIMBS volunteers. We've been busy with 'cross all fall, but in winter we add a mtb day each week and try to hit the trail days before racing starts again on Sundays.

Last month and this month, we helped carry up materials and rebuild the South Ridge skinny, and this month, did maintenance on Fun Trail.

The sessions are very enjoyable and the lunch after amazing: soups and sandwiches from Red Barn. Often draw prizes too. Highly recommended and the SIMBS folks were great at accommodating a rabge of ages. Chris Oman quizzed the kids on the hike to the work site: "Name two wheel sizes", What's this tool called?" (Fire axe), What's the newest trail in the park? (Easy Rider), Why do we drain puddles from trails?", etc.

"SIMBS is permitted to maintain and build trails at Hartland by Capital Region District (CRD) Parks. Trail maintenance is held on the third Sunday of each month from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the tent in the Hartland parking lot. SIMBS provides the tools, gloves and training. Dress appropriately for work outdoors. Bring water and a snack. You can bring your own tools if you like. You don’t have to be a SIMBS member to participate but you do have to sign a waiver. Kids are welcome if they are old enough to help and you can take care of them.

Afterwards many volunteers go for a ride so bring your bike – we have secure storage.

To receive a monthly reminder email, please send a note to trails@simbs.com to get on the list. If you reply to the trail maintenance email by 9:00 a.m. the Friday before the trail day, SIMBS will provide lunch. If you can’t reply in time, you are welcome to come out – just bring your own lunch.
