Private messages stuck in outbox

Twice now I've tried to send private messages on this forum and both times they remain stuck in my outbox. Does anyone else have this problem? What am I doing wrong?

An outbound PM continues to appear in your Outbox until the recipient opens it. It's not a matter of your messages getting stuck – it's a matter of the recipients not knowing they've received PMs.

I've experienced an issue lately (and I know others have too) of not receiving email notifications of PMs.

There is a built-in notification in the forum masthead above, but the white text on a baby blue background isn't particularly noticeable, and it only works if you're logged into the forum.

I have to say that is a very weird implementation of a messaging system!

Go to "User Control Panel", then choose "Board Preferences". After that, make sure that "Allow users to send you private messages" and "Notify me of new private messages" are both ticked "Yes."

Unfortunatley the management is too busy riding their bikes to devote a lot of time to solving the various quirks of the messaging system.
