Saturday "mental-anguish-fest" • October 10

Post by Lund »

The prospect of coming on this ride seems to be a source of severe anxiety and intense fright for many. Hence the new name.

But there's nothing to be afraid of. Really.*

6:00 from Cook Street Starbucks, as usual. The more, the merrier.

* Unless you're afraid of dizziness, vomiting and/or lactic acidosis. In which case I lied.

This is always an excellent ride no matter what the people who don't go on it say about it.

As I was getting set to leave, my headlamp wouldn't turn on. (Turns out the rechargeable battery is shot.) So I grabbed the only thing I could find – one of those head-strap lights you use when you're camping. And it died before I got to Cook Street. No one else showed, so I was alone in the dark along the waterfront...and there were sections where I might as well have been riding blindfolded! Decided to pull the plug at Estevan.

Got to starbucks late, went straight out shelbourne to ash and then followed the regular route to Sydney where I skipped past the airport and headed back.
fairly suffer-less sufferfest as I was not pushing too hard :)
There's always next week!

Sadly, Andrew, you nailed it.

So next weekend will be the "no-excuses-fest"!

S

BTW...what's your excuse for not being out this morning?

FWIW, I did get 100k in last Saturday while you guys were languishing in bed/dead-light-land. Sufferfest of one. And I bought coffee for everyone at the end! ;-)
