On this morning's ride some of us (OK, Dave and I) got talking about one more Ridge ride sometime in the next 3-4 weeks. This is a full day deal: catch the ferry over to Port Angeles early, ride the Ridge, late afternoon return.
Just one problem: the Coho ferry schedule. In the summer the group went over at 6:10am and returned on the 5:15pm, leaving lots of time to ride.Today was the last 6:10am Victoria departure (argh...would have been a perfect day too.) After today, with one exception, departures are 10:30am and returns are 2pm- not enough of a window to ride.
The only feasible days left are over the Thanksgiving week-end- Oct. 9, 10, 11, or 12- when there's a 10:30am departure and a 5:15pm return. 90 minute crossing- so we'd have from 12-4:45 to do the ride. Port Angeles to peak and back is 41 miles. Time-wise it's feasible I think?
Return trip cost: $37.50. Passports required. For those with dinner plans you'd be home, showered and sitting down at the table by 7:15 with a bit of hustle.
Since Mother Nature is the wild card I'd suggest we pick a main-day and a back-up day based on sign-up numbers. (see poll- haven't done this before so I've messed up please feel free to fix)
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Hurricane Ridge ride: Thanksgiving week-end?
Here's a thought. No ferries, no passport. maybe a long ride, weather permitting, such as Genoa Bay? Sure I know that the Malahat is no hurricane ridge, but if we climb the 'hat, bail at and around Shawnigan, the highway time is relatively less.
