Seeing the "Beach Drive Improvement" signs along the water near King George Terrace was promising. However, given the preference for patching vs resurfacing, I began to fear that the crappy patch job was the extent of the "improvement". The exposed castings we saw on Wednesday was a good sign that paving is imminent, but still had my doubts, so did a little digging. Here is the official word:

"A 1.25-kilometre section of Beach Drive, between King George Terrace and Newport Avenue, will be
upgraded to improve safety for vehicles and cyclists. The project will include remediation of the road base
where necessary, along with paving and new curbs. This will improve a section of one of the Capital Region’s
most scenic drives and is expected to create approximately five jobs, at a time when the need for economic
stimulus is greatest."
