Bike stealin' assh*les

Post by David Hill »

So my 'cross bike got nipped today from Central Middle School. It was locked up with a combination cable lock against a chain link fence, and taken in broad daylight. The lock was gone, too. Probably cut or opened by Alan Turing.

Anyhoo, although I gripe incessantly about the uselessness of the canti brakes, wouldn't it be lovely to get it back... Be on the lookout for a very spiffy looking asswipe riding the black and red Cannondale CAADX.... (an asswipe other than me!)..

David;

Assuming you haven't done so already and that you have the serial number, in addition to calling the cops, call all the local pawn shops. We lost a bike a few months back but got it back the very next day - the guy who stole it sold it to a pawn shop (across the road from the Vic PD cop-shop on Quandra!) an hour later. Doofus gave them his name, phone number and was caught on their in-store video.

Sad to hear Dave. Once you have quickly gone through all the stages of grief, there is a tasty Norco Threshold on Used Vic with disk brakes that should fit nicely.

better lock or better bit of fence needed. a 5/32 bit of wire is easy to nip w pliers

I know it sucks but if the bike is good one don't leave it out with out good locking especially in areas of town known to be need the core of some of the drug activity. Central is two blocks from Harris Green on Pandora get that pretty picture.

better planning for bike preservation next time heavy lock and heavy anchor.

I know this sounds harsh and may bring on the karma I no doubt deserve.
