I am planning on riding the Penticton Gran Fondo July 12. I am starting prep in earnest this Saturday.
My plan is to leave Disc Coffee on Menzies at 7 AM sharp (they open at 6:30) and ride 100K. I am not looking for great elevation gain (Penticton is a different kind of ride from Whistler with Cypress!). So I'll be looking at routes that are kind of flatter.
Each successive Saturday I plan on increasing the distance by +-15 K to reach 160 K by the beginning of Feb and riding 160 one week and 140 the next until the end of June.
The idea is to not hammer these rides but keep them steady and keep them moving with little to no stopping except when the distance gets up to 140+ stopping to refuel.
Anyway, departing this Saturday at 7 AM from Disco on Menzies. I'll post the route later.
Barton.

Does that mean no Sunday rides?

No, Sunday ride still goes on! This is simply part of my personal training plan. I am inviting one and all to come along for the ride!

How does that very old Roy Orbinson song go? "Only the Lonely..."
Three of us this AM; dark, wet but not soaking, cool but not cold. Doug Christian and I! Christian left us at Matticks and Doug and I carried on alone! Both of us recovering from nasty cold/flu things. What better way than 100 K in drizzle, I ask you!
Worked out ok. We did not talk much, rode mostly on 2 minute pulls. We were definitely done by the time we reached the end.
Next Saturday, 115K. 134 views of this post and only 3 riders. Come on!!

132 of those 134 views were here just to see if you'd done anything cool on Strava.
