Festive 500

Post by rhughes »

Hey Folks

The Festive 500 officially starts on Christmas Eve day. This can be a great way to kick start your best cycling year ever in 2015.

Want to join in? I plan on doing the Wednesday Farm Team ride and then keep going from there to do in the 100 to 120 range of friendly pace cycling - avg 27k or so. Out to Langford RCMP station head back on Goose to Burnside for a reverse Sunday. Not avoiding hills but not seeking them out either.

The secret to doing the total 500 is to have a good successful Day 1 and then go from there. After Friday ride we can do similar.

Who's in?

F 500 ....Wed Dec 24, a few of us are doing half hills, Farmers...
then join the old boys, 9am
Ken Bonner ride out to Sidney. Leave Starbucks Oak Bay at 8:50.

Barring any snow, I PLAN on doing 350 km the first 4 days. I need to keep my mileage up there with Jack Bodin and Peter Lawless!!

Any other Kid-less or homeless members riding Christmas Day??.I will be at Starbucks Cook st. Village at 8am ( opens at 7am Dec 25 )

I was hoping to put in a 100k ride tomorrow, although as a relative newcomer, not too familiar with the farm team. Where and when do they depart tomorrow?

The most heroic approach is to leave yourself at least 100 miles, preferably 180-200 km, for the last day. There's limited glory in simply finishing the 500 with no suspense.

That's funny...autocorrect changed 'moronic' to 'heroic'.

In case you are looking for an early ride Sunday, I will swing by Cook St Starbucks at 6am. We can do a regular-ish ride and then end up at Fairfield at 7:30.

I plan on getting a life in my next one!

508km after this morning's chilly tuesday ride, and done! I know Ritchie finished on the same ride. Congrats to everyone who finishes this ridiculous challenge each year.
Time to rest my poor butt..
