Metchosin-Highlands-Peninsula ride on Sunday August 10th
For anyone who is unable (or unwilling) to do this year's Tour de Victoria event, Tripleshot will be riding a very similar route on the morning of Sunday, August 10th. Why drop $200 to ride with 2000 complete strangers when you can ride for free with your friendly Tripleshot buddies?
We will depart at 6:00am from the Starbucks on Alpha St (across from Mayfair Mall). Mark Ford has generously offered to drive out and meet the group at a few key points along the route with extra water, gels, fruit, etc. So come along and experience the natural high of riding some of Victoria's most challenging and beautiful cycling roads!
Stay tuned for further details...

For anyone who might still be on the fence as to whether they are up to doing this ride, the answer is "Yes you can!" First of all, it's a ride not a race. And as with the recent Big Loop Ride, we will have two groups - a fast group and, um, a less fast group.
We will ride the "original" Tour de Victoria route - which is basically out to Metchosin, then over to the Highlands, north to Lands End Road, and then back south via Sidney to Victoria. Once you've made it through the Highlands and turn left on West Saanich Road all the heavy-lifiting is done - after that it's just an easy spin out to Lands End and back home again.
Mark Ford will be providing roadside support at the top of Munns Road and then again just after the round-about heading south out of Sidney.
Seriously, what else are you going to do on a sunny Sunday August morning?

Ok John I am in , no more" probably."
I know some Ironmen and Rando people that have heard language such as:
" I am probably going to do that race, I might do it. I will TRY to do that long ride," etc. This may mean you are NOT going to do something.....
so are you in?

The route and cue sheet can be found at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1221432.
The only difference is that we will depart from the Alpha St. Starbucks (instead of the Legislature) and ride The Goose out to the point where it crosses the old island highway.

So....,
Where do we stand with numbers for this ride? I am on the fence. Do we have a good size group? If so , I am in.

Last weekend about five people posted that they would be doing the Goldstream Heights ride on Sunday...we ended up with 16.
I'm hoping we'll get at least that number by Sunday, even if people haven't officially signed up here.

In. Especially if Mark is making expresso for the top of Muns.
And for those participating, remember, No Surrender.
Makes me think of Cheap Trick at Budokan:

Speaking of awesome 70's and 80's music, On Tuesday's ride, Bill Ethier and i found ourselves playing "Think of another Trooper song". Bastard beat me with "Just a 3 dressed up as a 9"-- clearly with a brain more suited to storing musictrivia than mine.... Next time?,

You will all appreciate that my wife will be joining you rather than me. Watch out Alan, she named one of her recent Strava rides "Turn that dial all the way, Shoot me like a rocket into space"...

John, Thanks for setting this up! Good ride! We started with 22? 24? Mark was parked at the top of Munn with coffee, munchies, pepsi!! And again at Sydney!! Thank you Mark. I'll retrieve my jacket some day.
When we turned left on Wallace off of Willis I looked back and wondered, "Where did all the rest go?" 12 brave souls continued on our way. It was good ride indeed. 145 K coffee shop to home. Just over 5 hours, just over 28 K/Hr.
It was great to see so many other TS riders out there. We saw the regular Sunday crew as they were heading south on Wallace past W Saanich. We saw the Farm Team headed north thru Sydney. Very nice.
Thanks everyone!
Up next, Port Angeles 100 mile. Tomorrow! Any besides BC Ferry Steve interested!? Leaving on the 6:10 ferry.

Yes, that was one of the nicest rides I've done all year. It was great to see such a good turnout - I counted 26.
Congrats to Mary on doing her longest ride EVER!
And thanks for the road support Mark...it was much appreciated.
