Nanaimo2Victoria 2009

Post by Plawless »

:D As you may or may not know Tripleshot Cycling is heavily involved with the 2009 Nanaimo2Victoria bike ride. Once again it is a fund raising event in conjunction with the Cops For Cancer. It's our job to get this message to as many of you as we can.

If you could send this to as many people as you can think of, it would be greatly appreciated. The more riders we have, the more money for cancer research we will raise. You can go to www.Nanaimo2Victoria.ca to sign up and register on both the N2V site and the Canadian Cancer Society website if you're interested in doing this fully supported ride. Those of you who did it last year will know the thrill and emotional experience of riding with a police escort and all the friendly honks from supportive drivers.

Once again Tripleshotters will have an opportunity to ride up to Nanaimo to really get a solid day in! And everyone else is welcome to take the transport up and do the "regular" ride. It is sure to be a spectacular day. Dont wait to sign up - get cracking!

Also as we are hoping to turn this into a really great annual event if we can make sure we have a good turnout of us and "them" it will go a long way towards cementing this event in the annual calendar. So....

Thanks. :D

For those of you who participated last year, you'll recall the post-ride beers at Fernwood Inn. You won't want to wear your sweaty jersey there, but what a great opportunity to wear a beautiful, long-sleeved Triple Shot shirt to keep us all identified as TSers.

If you haven't bought yours yet, let Pete know. (Pete, maybe we could have some on hand at Lister's on Thursday night??)

Great idea Bikecat. So it is tapas and $20's on Thursday. And they make great gifts for family......or if you are a messy eater they can be used like a bib!

Victoria2Nanaimo the day before?

Post by FairweatherMike »

Peter's comment about getting in "a really solid day" - understatement? - got me thinking - what about a group going up the day before, [Friday Sept. 11) leaving about noon or 1 pm? Ideally with a sag wagon and someone with relatives in Nanaimo (or share motel room(s)) - this would allow for a convivial post-ride dinner and a bit of recovery time prior to joining Saturday's festivities.

Doing the basic same-day math for a ride to Nanaimo gives new meaning to TripleShot's "pre-dawn cafe destination cycling" motto - I calculate a departure time of about 3 a.m. or earlier to join up with the group heading south... (am I missing something here, or is this a cross between Mont Ventoux and the 24 hours of Le Mans?)

last year we rode up. We met at 5:00 at the Swiths bridge and it was ok. We didnt go toooo hard. Other than getting 3 flats on the'Hat it was good.

This year the ride starts an hour later so we can probably meet at 6 and still make it. The beauty of this Ride is that if we are slow we can just join the N2V in motion.

Havign said that I would not want to dissuade anyone from riding up the day before - a great way to get a big block of riding in without totally destroying yourself doing 240k in 1 day!

Finally - is everyone signed up???????? I think there are a few names missing off the registration list....... www.nanaimo2victoria.ca
