VCL: More argyle required

We need more Tripleshot jerseys at the VCL races. The argyle just looks so good in a pack and there isn't enough of it yet. So with the hopes of getting others to throw their helmet in the ring, I am posting a summary of my race at Newton Heights. If I can survive Newton Heights, anyone can survive the Sidney TT. Remember Mercx style (on your road bike) is not only legal, it's huge on the style points.


Newton Heights 1
I started at the back of the pack in order to preview the course a bit before trying to move up the group. The pack, on the other hand, decided that I had no place being there and summarily dropped me within seconds of the start. OK it was to be an ITT. New goals - keep eyes open for the downhill section, let go of the brakes during the downhill section, and do not come to a complete stop before the corners. I managed to mostly keep my eyes open.

Stephan, ex Tripleshotter, now Wheeler, and our race leader lapped me on what felt like my first lap. Finishing down a lap would mean having to do less downhills. I did move up the tables a bit, capitalizing on the uphill section, catching a few people dropped by the pack each lap.

In the end I finished 12th getting pipped at the line by Katie from Stuckylife. It was a gallant move, and one that I would have at least tried to counter had I not thought that we were coming up to the bell lap. A well deserved win that must be avenged.

So a terrible start, the near constant smell of burning brake pads, a delightful little uphill section, lapped by at least 3 riders, 189 max HR, a wretched finish, and a mid-pack result. It was a great bike race and I can't wait for next week.
