Saturday morning ride for "broken people"

Post by Lund »

Glen's words, but I'm running with them since they seem apt.

She and I are planning a 6:30 departure from the Mayfair SBUX for the loop around Prospect Lake.

The pace will be dialled down to accommodate bad backs (mine), clunky bikes (Glen's) and any other handicap that happens to show up.

If you're out of shape, infirm, hung over or just generally lazy and lethargic, this is the ride for you.

Last time I tried to make it to a 6:30 ride at the Alpha Bucky's it didn't turn out so well. :x

Maybe.

As I recall, it put you squarely in the "broken people" category. Maybe just take the bus to Bucky's and we'll take care of you from there.

Oooo!

Bad back: check.

Hungover (or at least I will be): check.

Sorry if I make it out. You'll have to put up with some serious cussin'.

A great ride this morning, even if Rolf did get a little brokener along the way.

Thanks Rolf and Brent.

?!

(^ this punctuation mark actually has a name. It is an "Interrobang.") I am not making this up.

Anyway.

The light wouldn't change for us crossing the highway in Colwood so I attempted to hit the button on one of those super curby pedestrian islands. The button was busted and I kept hitting it, so slowed to a stop and attempted an awkward unclip on my irregular side, but that just cramped my calf and over I went with an interrobang! I broke my fall entirely with the left edge of my hand. No fractures, just swelling and bruising.

If I gotta crash once in a while, I'll take this one—for sure.

Oh, I get it. The ride was intended to *create* broken people. I thought it was for pre-existing broken-ness.

I should have known when I saw Glenowyn on the roster. Is that the autumn's first official Queen of Pain/Angel of Death ride, the rides that don't end until everybody's bleeding?

(Glad you're mostly OK)
