3D Profiles of Any Strava Segment

Post by Rolf »

Ahh, interwebs. You're so neat.

Go to your fav Strava segment, go to its page, get the segment # from the end of the segment page URL, use it to replace the number at the end of this URL http://veloviewer.com/segment/652851. Then click on the "3D Profile" tab. You get a completely manipulable, zoom-able, rotate-able 3D projection, with grade colourings etc. Awesome!

Here's a taster of Observatory Hill:

I don't know why I'm surprised, but that looks remarkably accurate.
I've got an obnoxious helmet. It's green.

Can you guess this one? (Same hill, different angles/elevation stretch.)

My guess is King George Terrace. It's the only climb around here with a left turn followed by two right turns, all at about 90 degrees.

And the prime goes to Shawn C.: KGT it is!

Here's Hurricane Ridge—from downtown Port Angeles to the summit—for you folks riding in the morning:

Can you guess these nasty-looking local climbs? They may or may not have already been mentioned. (Also: the "hotter" the colour, the steeper the gradient.)
