BC TT - Kudos to TS Organzers - Lister, Bryson, Kate & David

I just wanted to point out that the BC TT and TTT Championships were held this weekend up in Comox. While I was only able to race the TT I wanted the whole club to know that the TS organizers really did a hell of a good job and brought honour to our club. I watched Lister, Bryson, Kate and David B. run this event like a well oiled machine. They handled the myriad unexpected situations and the litany of questions and concerns raised by seemingly everyone in attendance. They handled everyone with grace and the expected measure of argyle charm.

So from those that raced and the whole club who are made better for these folks' dedication to this event I really do take off my (pointy) hat to Lister, Bryson, Kate and David B.

Yes, thank you to the TS crew that organized and ran this event. Without volunteers these events simply do not take place and we have an incredible group of dedicated volunteers that go out of their way to allow the rest of us to participate in great events.

If anyone is still looking for opportunities to give back to the club we still need volunteers for our last two events of the summer - the VCL Western Speedway race on August 7th, and the TSC Hurricane Ridge Ride on August 18th.

Lessons learned from my personal IT goofs:

1) ALWAYS TEST your hardware configuration, even if it seems painfully obvious when you toss all the bits in the car at dawn.
2) ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP PAPER SYSTEM IN MIND so you aren't scribbling the start list and sending it to the line with runners two minutes before "go."
3) ASSUME THAT YOU CANNOT DO ARITHMETIC IN YOUR HEAD UNDER PRESSURE.

Many thanks to the good sports who responded to various teething pains gracefully. Especial kudos to whomever rescued my glasses after I flung them in a tantrum and also to the steady stream of people bringing me cold lemonade.

Note the August 7 TS VCL at western is not on. All the Wednesdays in June, July and August are taken by the hornet car group. The references on the VCL schedule are early hopes for dates that didn't get removed from the schedule when the hornets got all the Wednesdays. Two more VCL bunch races, this wed at newton heights, and next wed at Caleb. After that, there's a couple Sunday hill climbs, then its time for cyclocross!
