What better way to start June than with a bit of suffering on what looks to be a beautiful day for riding!!
I plan on being at Discovery Coffee at Menzies and Michigan at 6:30 for coffee and warm, fresh baked right out of the oven muffins.
Oh yea, the ride! I plan to leave at 7 AM, head out to Metchosin and find another coffee shop about 4 hours later.
The Route: Goose, Ocean Blvd & the Lagoon, head to Happy Valley Road, cross Sooke Road and work our way to Burnside/Prospect Lake Road, Munn, Millstream, Durrance, Willis, W Saanich, Prospect, Munn, Millstream, Durrance, Willis, W Saanich, Interurban, Coffee!
Well, maybe 4:30 later!
See you there!

Re: Saturday June 1
Hi Barton,
I'm planning a big ride on Saturday too, but I will be avoiding the West Shore due to the provincial road race on that day. My route will be a little different from yours, but it does overlap a bit.
I will be hittin' the hills: Mt. Tolmie, Mt. Doug, Island View, John Dean Park, Observatory, Hartland Ave., Willis Pt. (all the way to the water and back up), then the Durrance/Millstream/Munns route back home. I am guessing it will take 4-5 hours. Maybe we can connect for the last bit through the Highlands?

Re: Saturday June 1
Barton, I'm in. I think, by staying north of Kangaroo/Rocky Point, we'll be out of the way of the bulk of the Road Race itself.
(Incidentally, this course looked quite manageable until I read it carefully and realized that I wasn't seeing double. You're a sick man, Barton.)
(Stéphane, you're even sicker. That's why I'm going to ride with Barton. )
