I was looking over race results from the Race The Ridge Stage Race in Vancouver this past weekend and I couldnt beleive how many riders, especially juniors, were there from our club. It made me stop and think of how that happened. Then I realized it was due to Lister. I know he has had support from others but if nto for Lister I am sure this woud not be happening.
So I just wanted to drop a short note to point out how awesome Lister is doing with the juniors. It is amazing to me to look at the race results these days (such as from Race the Ridge) and see the major portion the field have “Tripleshot Cycling” beside their names. This is a real testament to his amazing ability to work with these kids. I am thrilled to see this and really have to tip my hat to him. Who knew a few years ago when we were sitting around at coffee talking about being more of a club than just a bunch of riders that we would end up having this sort of impact? And I really feel all credit to Lister for not only talking the talk but really walking the walk. Chapeau Sir.
I also think a big shout out is due to the whole of our Executive both current and past who have stayed the course on this stuff and in doing so have opened up an opportunity to expand our sports reach and allow a proper pathway to be visible to these kids. I think the executive has been amazing at looking at the bigger picture of cycling and promoting it in so many ways both big and small such that we, as a club, are a real force in our sport. Whether its kids, or women, or “mature” desk jockeys I think we are really doing an all star job of being inclusive and supportive.
Now if only I could get people to go a little easier uphill it would be totally perfect!
