Advice on where to visit in Sufferlandria?

Post by Rolf »

Despite enjoying hills with no booties this morning in the pouring rain, I'm now facing seven days with only the trainer as an option. This is due to children who may still get injured pouring their own cereal and a travelling wife.

So I'm turning to The Sufferfest to keep things interesting indoors. I'm curious if any Tripleshot Sufferlandrians have suggestions of which video might be a good place to start?

This from TSC's resident grammarian, who just congratulated Peter on his nice use of a "than then"? Sir, please mind your use of commas.

Ignore the pedant.

Hell Hath No Fury: 2 x 20' with lots of unnecessary pain involved. Fantastic. You do Chamois Dance after. Probably with Sylvan's Coach Dieter, except I think this coach is named Grunter. Alsotoo, the race is pro-level women's racing.

Local Hero: Winds up and up and up, taunting you all the way to a sprint finish. Pukarific.

I want to buy Blender or Revolver next.

His production values get better and better with the new ones. I think, somewhere on his site, he actually describes the workouts that underlay the videos. Each one has an constructive point besides bleeding on the floor.

I use their videos often. At least once per winter. All I know is this: do not use their vids with a ten foot wide screen when you are trying rollers for the first time. They have awesome, fast, downhill sections with lots of cornering. I ended up completely upside-down, laying on my couch with my legs in the air, still clipped in. Fun though.

You really can't go wrong with any of these videos... I have done 3 this week. As Kate mentioned, check out the website and grab the one(s) that strike your fancy. Each one offers something slightly different.

Yes! And they are now reworking some of the older vids with new footage and updated graphics.

Great vibe form these too.

Thanks all* for your responses. Here's how my first Sufferfest went:

6:00 <Fiddle with towels and such.>
6:05 <Hit play on A Very Dark Place.>
6:10 Oh, this is nice. I'm riding through the fields of Southeast Asia.
6:15 But who are all these Continental riders beating me in a crit?
6:25 Look! Look! I'm riding up the Mur de Huy! Man, my legs hurt.
6:26 I'm getting dropped on the Mur de Huy... by Andy Schleck?! URRRGH!!
6:28 STAND? I'VE BEEN STANDING FOR A #@!$-ING MINUTE ALREADY! PHILGIL'S GETTING AWAY!
6:30 "Daddy? Could you please get off that thing? I can't sleep because all I can hear is loud music and bad words coming out of the air vent in my room."
6:30 "Jes... <pant> one more interval <gasp> dear."
6:33 "Why did you shower before you started?"
6:45 <Doubled over and essentially naked in a 5°C backyard.>
6:55 "I'm okay kids, really. Hang up the phone. Let's just go in and make breakfast."

Thanks, Brian. I look forward to finishing a workout when I don't feel like I'm inflicting psychological damage on my children by looking like a half-shaved warthog being electrocuted in a rainstorm.

It got to a point last winter that Coach banned me from riding to them, because I seem to be utterly incapable of ignoring the taunting from the video and just riding to a pace that kind of resembles the day's assigned training.

Well-done, Rolf. Eagerly awaiting further reviews.
