As you may or may not know, I am a Director of the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada. We recently hired a new Executive Director, Bill Yetman, who comes from the Retail Counsel of Canada, and he has extensive experience in lobbying the government to further the interests of independent businesses. BTAC is now able to draw upon his experience and leverage it to further the interests of the bicycle industry.

With the Federal Budget tabled last month certain sporting good categories, most notably hockey, were exempted from tariffs. Obviously we believe this treatment should have been extended to bicycles and because it was not we need to remind the government that our industry is a large and powerful voice. We this in mind, Bill and his team have designed several postcards that he would like completed and then sent to BTAC. He will then make arrangements to forward these cards to the government. These can be completed by an individual and/or business and the more that are forwarded to BTAC the more weight they will carry when they are forwarded to the government.

If you are interested in completing a postcard please print it off, sign, etc.,

The intent and purpose of this email is non-partisan and please do not take offense if you feel I am slighting the current government. The content of the email is relevant to whichever political party is in power if they ignore the interests of the cycling industry.

If you go to the BTAC website here, you can instead fill out an online form, or print off and snail-mail one of three different snappy PDF postcards.

This is some important advocacy work that BTAC is taking on. But did you notice how similar their logo is to the Tories? Weird coincidence.

They raised them.
