Boxing Day Ride

Post by Plawless »

What about doing a longish Sunday ride on Boxing day? Start at Fairfield Starbucks at 7:30 or Cook St Starbucks if Fairfield is closed on the 26th. (to be confirmed tomorrow)

Haha, in fear of not being able to keep up, I'm opting to drag out the cross bike and ride to Leechtown and back, slow and steady. If anyone wants to join, you're more than welcome. 9am departure from the switch bridge :)

No Festive 500 for me, but who needs a badge for festivities, I should be in.

So the talk at coffee this morning, Monday , amongst a lot of "potential Festive 500" cyclists
is that for Boxing day some people will do the 6am Hills ride or Farm Team ride or some variation of them followed by meeting at FF Plaza for the the regular 7:30 Holiday ride .(Tripleshot Sunday route)

For those FESTIVE sorts I plan to branch off at some point to Sidney to join the Ken Bonner/Mark Ford Wednesday group at the usual Red Brick Cafe, coffee stop. Then out to Wain road, airport and back. This could be 140+km!!

I am tired from typing this , so I must also say that after John D. and I coughed our way through this mornings ride (both of us have had it for 2 weeks), we discussed doing the NEW "FESTIVE 200"

Either way please join us for all or some of these rides. It beats lining up at Future shop.

Merry Christmas ... and Happy Tripleshot Festive Day
Cheers, Paul C.

I'll be there one way or another....even if only just for coffee!

My last-minute Xmas present to myself after this morning's ride was a new front derailleur. Now I know why I had to do all of yesterday's ride in my big-ring, and why I kept dropping my chain this morning.

Merry Christmas to all,
J.

In (hopefully).....I need to ride.

My 'club cut' jersey is getting a little snug and since I don't have a 'festive cut' jersey :), I better get out there............

I'm planning on riding from the Prairie Inn to Fairfield at 6 am, then from Fairfield to the Prairie Inn at 7:30. I'll probably just keep riding when the stop at Mattick's happens.

Conditions today were utterly horrific but should be better tomorrow. 5 crazy riders out today for about 40 km of wind and rain and almost snow at the end.

Am a little concerned about the conditions out there as of evening of 25th.

If it's still howling, especially from the East like this, tomorrow, I'll skip Leechtown. Slugging home into the wind on a CX bike for hour upon hour doesn't sound like a heap of fun.

Andrea, will message you to let you know what I decide by 8:15.

Peter, is Fairfield Starbucks open for a 7:30 start?

I think I'm in for the Fairfield 7:30 thing tomorrow... "tomorrow" being about 40 minutes from now. And Kate, at the pace I'll be going, I don't think there'd be an issue keeping up (or blasting by) -
