Everyone Loves a Party

Post by wonger »

Mark you calendars - the Tripleshot Christmas Party will take place on Friday, December 14th this year. The location is Goward house on Arbutus, across the street from the Queen Alexandria.

We need help putting this together, so if you are willing to assist, please let us know. We will need to coordinate prizing, organize the world's greatest potluck, arrange for refreshments and the like.

More details to follow.

Hey Jeff (and others),

There are a ton of us out there in TS with kids of varying ages, and in particular of the still are into Santa age. I know that many of you likely want to keep the TS party seperate from your kids..but what about a kid component to this with Santa etc.?!

If people are good with having an earlier part for the kids with Santa etc. I would work with others to do that... Some people have little ones (elementary school or younger - like me) who might want to collaborate this (government speak - sorry) and some have high school and older (again, like me) that might be interested in helping out (like David, Kristen's daughter Kika, my step-son Aidan.. etc.).

Okay, just putting it out there..

thoughts?
And I have already been shotdown twice today and got smoked in the sprint at the end of the ride today, so go easy on me!

Hey Paula,

I discussed this with a few other members to get some feedback on the idea and here are a few of the things to consider...

Capacity - the venue is limited in capacity - 110 - so one thing to be careful about is that we ensure there is some priority accorded members so that they can attend. In the past people have brought spouses so the tickets get scooped up pretty quick.

Timing - we have the venue from 4:00 until midnight which allows two hours for set up and an hour for clean up. Extending the hours would cost more, but there is also a concern about overlapping the AGM portion of the evening with kids activities, as we really do want members to participate in the AGM. It is the only occasion for the club to set the direction for the year.

Tone - having young kids attend changes the tone of the gathering. Personally, my 5 and 6 year old are staying home that night as it's a chance for me to socialize without worrying about my kids. Lord knows there will be many opportunities for us to drag them to parties over the holiday season.

I didn't get any feedback that said "great idea" but to be fair, I'm sure there are other members who would agree with your proposal. If there's interest, maybe it should be pursued, but I agree with the point about limiting the ability of members to attend.

Are there other opinions?
