Women's road bike to borrow?

Post by shawnc »

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to lend me a road bike that would fit a woman about 5’6” in height. My wife Alysha is interested in trying out these Tripleshot rides she’s heard so much about but she only has a commuter bike.

Alternately, would the C group welcome a person new to group rides on a commuter bike?

Thank you,

Shawn

Shawn, all are welcome to the C rides. No exclusions, no one gets left behind!

be careful here Barton. Remember Shawn started on a commuter and now EVERYONE is left behind so.......

I wonder how many bricks Alysha should start with?

Peter

ps. C'mon out Alysha. It will be fun.

Thanks Barton and Peter :)

Barbara Erickson is being very cool and is lending Alysha her road bike. Barring any unforeseen disasters I'll bring her out for the last week of August.

I'm a little frightened myself. When Alysha was on the UVic running team (and before we even started dating) she regularly kicked my ass on runs. That motivated me to get into better shape.

I seem to remember Shawn not having any trouble riding A from his first time out. i think the best we ever managed was to trick him into taking too long a pull by not telling him where the finish line was on his first ride.

I have a feeling this will be similar. I've heard stories of some of her 10k running times.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

It's amazing to have advance warning and thus potentially be present for the creation of a roadie. Kind of like seeing an albino panda being born in the wild, or something.

But... no pressure, Alysha! :P

I have no idea what the hell you're talking about, Rolf. Albino Pandas? You should know by now, that red wine and a keyboard are a BAD combination. But since this thread has degenerated into discussing wildlife we might encounter on the road, I feel I need to respond. If we see any albino pandas, or raccoons or peacocks on the road, I suggest we give them a wide berth while on our bikes. That way we can return to hunt them down in our SUVs and crush them mercilessly, especially if they are capable of sporting the logos of multinational pharmaceutical companies...
