May 9th: Windsor Park
It wasn't on the schedule, but apparently May 9th will be the Windsor Park Crit. It's a good race for those that aren't a fan of hills.
On a completely unrelated note, why is the tripleshotcyling in tripleshotcyling.freeforums.org spelled incorrectly?

FLAT --- its FLAT----- YAHOOOOOO!!!!! Now that was nicely timed to assist me in drying my tears after last night's horror show!
We should talk a bit about tactics for this one (Bill, Lister, Joe??? feel free to wade in here) Last year Bill got away at the bell for the win and with the great group we have now we ought to be able to not only control the race but we could plan a few breaks - try to spring Bill, John, Dylan & Joe? (they are all in the top 10 overall right now so we should work for them)
Also what about a goal of never having a tripleshotter riding alone? Lets think of ourselves as a team and think about placement etc. I also think that at the start we should bully our way to the front to get a photo or two of the Easter Egg Train charging along.
Third, lets see how many women we can get out. C'mon ladies take a page out of Kim's book and just stick your nose in.
Finally remmebr its a great flat course....... Did I mention FLAT (I am getting all emotional just thinking about it being so flat).

Does anybody want to get together an do some cornering practice before the crit?
I was thinking we could go to a mall parking lot when the mall is closed and set up a little course.
The north east corner of hillside mall might work, around what used to be the sears auto repair.

Hasn't this race been cancelled, along with the entire Victoria Cycling festival lineup this year. On the Victoria Cycling League website the Windsor Park crit has now been moved to July 26th. Someone can contact a person from the wheelers tomorrow to confirm.
That's right Pete - I'm thinking about it.
Cheers

Yes. Scott mentioned it before the Oak Bay ride this weekend. Both an A race and a B race. Here's a link to the poster on the Oak Bay site. http://www.oakbaybikes.com/windsormaycrit2009.html
I'm in too, I guess. That is, if Dave and Eric are in too. Dave told me he is in, though that may have been a ploy just to trick me. Dolly told me today she has given Eric permission, so he has no valid excuse not to be in. Besides, I'm only in because there are a few other willing souls to haul my ass to the finish (Pete: note, please try to enroll more souls for hauling ass...). Basically if others are willing to sign up for a pain prescription, then so am I.
On another note, did Galen's post imply we need to shave our legs? Egad. Let's just say that doesn't fit well with one who is cultivating a Sasquatchian fur covering for his legs --just to keep em warm of course-- Part of the strategy is to avoid having to wear the new argyle leg warmers (still haven't taken them out of the plastic--any buyers out there?)

For anybody who is on the fence about doing this race, it's the easiest and safest race you can do in Victoria. Perfectly flat, wide corners. If you can handle the Tuesday UVic laps or Friday morning sprint, then you can handle racing, this will be just like that but safer since there won't be cars coming the other way or stopping in front of us. And, if you get dropped, you wait 2 minutes for the pack to come around and jump back in.

Oak Bay Crit
Hola, amigos
I was really looking forward to the crit, but I have injured my back and I am still waiting for the xray results to come back(after a week of waiting). Pretty bummed about it as I watch the muscle atrophy set in (there wasn't much there to begin with so it is pretty serious).
Hopefully I'll see you all back on the road really soon.

I'm definitely in! I could use a bit of a confidence boost after the thrashing I received at the BCMCA race on Sunday! And flat = fast for us big boys!
Does anyone have a spare XL TS jersey I might be able to borrow for the race? I'm also happy to continue racing 'stealth' if it can used by used to an advantage in team tactics.

@#$& this 'work' stuff, I think I'll just go pro...
Does anybody know the times of the B and A race?
Duane has B at 9:30 and A at 10:45
The poster has the time from 8:00 - 11:00
That doesn't really line up.

If any are interested, with the time change, my plan for getting to the race is as follows:
0730 - Arrive Fairfield Starbucks
- take onboard a minimum of 2 litres of "high test" caffeine
0745 - Leave Starbucks for easy waterfront warmup with any & all comers
0830 - register
0831 - easy laps around course with some accellerations out
of the corners
0912 - back into front row of start with at least 15 other Tripleshotters
0914 - wish I had pee'd 1 more time
0915 - go like the hammers of hell.
1005 - watch a Tripleshotter win (from, hopefully, nice and close by!)
See you all at Starbucks or on the course.
I have 2 objectives for the race:
1. Spring someone for the win;
2. look like we are a team - so no one rides alone. Always ride with a fellow tripleshotter.
(Gavin, call me to avoid being in "stealth" mode - 250-889-6480)

john? race report? They are good
From my perspective (and first race ever) things were glorious. I got dragged (by shannon berg) to join the tail end of pack one, and happily sat on watching the Peter shananagans in the front (with a yawn)...
Then Kaboommm the rope broke on corner three
I was four behind Bill and saw the banking then tumble and slide.... wow
(if you didn't know, bill's at Vic Gen with a broken hip, pelvis or something we will find out about soon)
the race was called off -
stay tuned.
